If you’re beginning to set your alarm for the day for your children to return to the classroom, then you might have noticed that on the Android smartphone you aren’t setting any alarms.
There’s a Reddit discussion thread(opens in a new tab) about the issue, and the app’s listing(opens in a new tab) is full of user reviews of users complaining about the alarm clock application for Android isn’t functioning properly.
Google has stated that an update is being worked on however, there’s a different way to get around this issue at present, by using an alternative clock app to be the default option to set alarms.

Finding a new Clock app
The first thing to do is check whether Spotify is playing music tracks when the alarm has been set. If that’s the case, you should remove the music track from the alarm and set the default tone instead. It seems like it’s causing apps which uses an alarm clock not to ring at the time you tell it to.
Verify the device you’re using is running up to the latest version of Android and then install an alternative alarm clock application. Because the issue may also be related to using the standard Clock app that comes from Google that is stopping the alarm from being triggered, using an alternative alarm app to be the default will solve the problem.
Two apps we suggest as the default clock application. Making a new Clock app to be the primary
In lieu of heading to Settings > Apps and Notifications Standard apps, you can take an entirely different way to use the clock application.
Check that you have the Google Assistant app is enabled to be used, and then ask:
‘OK Google, Simple Alarm Clock Free, set alarm for 9am tomorrow.’
This will change the default clock application into the Simple Alarm Clock You can set your alarms like normal.
Although Android does not allow users to choose an alternative clock app to be the default, some users have complained, including us of this technique functioning as they was expected.
